Algernon Doll

Ewan Grant, AKA ALGERNON DOLL, evokes the spirit of the likes of Red House Painters, Mark Lanegan and Elliot Smith.

The last year has been an exciting one for Algernon Doll. Having released his debut album, as well as supporting the likes of Franz Nicolay (Against Me), Chris T-T, Esperi and Willis Earl Beal. He now follows that up with another expertly crafted record, Citalo-pop, due for release on 10th June 2013 via Common Records.

By assembling a full band for live shows to replicate the bigger sound produced on the album, Algernon Doll has also added another dimension to his project setting up a thrilling year ahead.

Support comes from Edinburgh legends DEGRASSI. Formed in 1999 the band impressively boast two John Peel sessions, several appearances at T in the Park and have shared stages with the likes of Snow Patrol, Seafood, The Coral, Future Of The Left, Aereogramme and Wayne Kramer of MC5 fame to name but a few.

Completing the bill are HALO.TORA, influenced by bands such as Oceansize, Mogwai, Karnivool and Hammock and an acoustic set by Edinburgh’s finest pop-tinged rock outfit CURATORS.

Their ferocious live performances have wowed many and UNITED FRUIT have already completed several very successful UK & European tours that have established an overwhelming fan base in France alone.

Having supported the likes of Twin Atlantic, Die! Die! Die! and And So I Watch You From Afar, they have proved they can match if not exceed these great bands in terms of live performance.

2013 sees United Fruit embark on several tours including a well publicised Scottish tour with The Twilight Sad and a return to Europe this autumn. The band have almost completed their 2nd album having already received mainstream airplay for unreleased tracks. United Fruit are going to be craved in terms of remembrance for sheer posterity.

Spawned far up north, where the air is thin, CACTUS & CARDIGAN congregated late 2011 to create music to scare the locals in Thurso and beyond. Taking influence from Kong, Reuben, Future Of The Left and other such riff laden wizards they set out to shake the foundations of wherever they may roam.

Having recently played shows with Sucioperro, Carnivores and PAWS the band have carved out a unique sound, which has recently been laid down in the form of their new EP ‘Gag Reflex’ to be released through Action Park Records on Friday 26th April.

This will be supported with a free download single and video, ‘Smegma’ available on the 1st of April from and a mini-tour of Scotland inluding Thurso, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Support comes from Glasgow based progressive rock band ATLAS:EMPIRE and stoner-rockers GAREEDA.

Influences ranging from Skunk Anansie, Florence Welch, Rage Against The Machine and Incubus have seen Vukovi develop a powerful live show supporting the likes of Futures, Don Broco and Lower Than Atlantis.

Since its inception in late 2008, Freeze The Atlantic have had a solid ethos at their core – making rock music and enjoying rock music. The band comprises of Andy Gilmour (Hundred Reasons), Guy Davis (Reuben), Tom (Archie And The Instincts), Sean Shreeve (Spectrum 7) and Liv Puente (Laruso). The recent release of their debut album ‘Speakeasy’ brought the band rave reviews and with a pounding and impressive live show, 2013 can only bring bigger and better things for the band.

They are joined by three-piece rock band Carnivores described as “Weezer being beaten up by the Dillinger Escape Plan” and Thurso’s Cactus & Cardigan, who take influences from Kong and Future Of The Left.
